Jisbar

Jisbar

BIOGRAPHY

Jean-Baptiste Launay, better known as Jisbar, is a French pop-street artist born in 1989.

Jisbar’s works are offbeat and parodic reinterpretations that blend art history and pop culture to create a new narrative. By combining symbols and words, as well as realistic and instinctive techniques, he draws inspiration from movements like pop art and street art to offer a broad reading of his artistic vision. His creations, rich in detail, present multiple layers of interpretation, inviting the viewer to explore the artwork, dive into it fully, and uncover all its subtleties. From NYC to Paris, from Taipei to Milan, London, and Dubai, Jisbar’s work is exhibited in the best galleries all over the world. His art has also been featured in renowned museums, such as the “La Joconde” exhibition, presented by the Louvre Museum x the Grand Palais Immersif, or the National Museum for the History of Immigration in Paris. In the latter, Jisbar showcased his piece « Love is the New Fame » to then-President François Hollande during an art exhibition condemning racism and antisemitism.

Jisbar is also known for his performance paying tribute to Leonardo da Vinci on the 500th anniversary of his death, during which he sent his reinterpretation of the Mona Lisa into space. The painting floated 33.4 km above Earth for over an hour and a half. On this occasion, he became the first artist ever to achieve such a performance. His technical feat was widely acclaimed through extensive international media coverage. His various collaborations with renowned brands such as Patek Philippe, BMW, Armani, the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and Ducati—as well as with world-class figures like MotoGP champion Fabio Quartararo and DJ Snake—have gained international recognition. Each of these partnerships has been an opportunity for him to create unique and unforgettable experiences.

As a committed artist, Jisbar takes action every year to support universal causes such as environmental and animal protection, women’s rights protection and aid for hospitals and and children in necessity. Among his many contributions, he participated in the #RaceAgainstCovid campaign organized by Ducati, donating his piece Ducati Mona Lisa to a charity auction, which helped raise €170,000 for the Sant’Orsola Polyclinic hospital in Bologna and he donated a new painting to the Téléthon, the 30-hour French charity event held every December to raise funds for neuromuscular disease research.
