“Let yourself be Hypnotized by Nature”

In this massive sculpture, made out of an estimated 1000 year old olive tree root, it’s hard not to get lost by it’s many aspects, for that is the purpose of this sculpture. Having a feeling of awe and powerlessness as you gaze and are being watched by the sheer sublimeness of nature.

Contrary to my other sculptures, here two artists have been at work, one being Nature itself, the art piece was already there, hidden behind the chaos of this rotten tree, my aim was to find balance and turn the chaos into an almost living creature that watches and consumes you with it’s energy at every angle, drawing you in and reminding the viewer of who holds the power.

Therefore creating this piece has been my biggest project so far, having worked on it for more than 5 months, almost every day. Working every angle, every indentation, every hole, understanding which parts needed to disappear completely and which were to remain and uphold was the challenge to make it seem alive.

By far my most proud sculpture.
